  • Sat/Sun evenings: bill 184x, it pays more than 182x.
  • Start time = first chart review or first patient contact, whichever is earlier.
  • One level code per encounter; a second only for a genuinely new condition with its own Dx.

Consult and reassessment

01810Consult: referred in by another provider (CCFP-EM/FRCPC). Beats every day and evening level; at night L2/L3, on weekends L3 pay more$148.42
01882Reassessment: ≥2 h after L2 or consult start, ≥3 h after L3. Once per encounter, always paid in full$32.33

The 50% rule

Level code + procedure: the greater fee at 100%, the lesser fee(s) at 50%. E.g. L1 day + 13611: $75.71 + $22.18 = $97.89.

Always paid in full: resus 01870, reassessment 01882, phone and advice codes, 01883, Mental Health Act codes.

Resuscitation

01870 $31.56 per 5 min or part, added to the level code in full. The level code's time must be outside the resus window. Includes intubation, IO, CVC, chest tube and pacemaker. A consult counts as 30 min of resus. Billing the procedure instead: 01091 intubation $184.07, 07145 IO $103.59, Y33025 cardioversion $105.70, under the 50% rule.
